Peru's Agriculture Minister, Angel Manero, has unveiled a $24 billion irrigation project to expand the country's farmland by one million hectares. Known as 'Trasvase Maranon,' the project aims to transfer water from the Maranon River to the Pacific coast, potentially making agriculture Peru's main economic driver by 2050. The initiative includes 22 projects and seeks to raise agricultural export revenue to $40 billion by 2040, up from $12.5 billion in 2021.
