Man sentenced to 14 months for attempting to smuggle heroin into prison via drone.

Wayne McDonnell, a 39-year-old Dublin man, was sentenced to 14 months in jail for attempting to fly heroin into Cloverhill Prison using a drone. He was caught after prison staff noticed the drone and tracked it, leading to the discovery of the drone with a copper pipe containing almost €500 worth of heroin near the prison. McDonnell, who pleaded guilty, has a history of drug-related convictions.
