The James Webb Space Telescope has captured a detailed image of Herbig-Haro 49/50, nicknamed the "Cosmic Tornado," located about 630 light-years away in the Chamaeleon constellation. The image, taken with the telescope's NIRCam and MIRI instruments, shows the protostellar outflow in unprecedented detail, revealing a distant spiral galaxy behind the jet and providing insights into star formation processes.
