Irish tax office replaces old monitors after one started smoking, costing over €50,000.

The Irish Revenue Commissioners had to replace computer equipment costing over €50,000 after a 15-year-old monitor started smoking. To avoid potential risks, 62 similar monitors were removed, representing 2.5% of all screens used by staff. The office continued operations with alternative screens while implementing plans to modernize their technology systems.
