Finnish energy firm Fortum says new nuclear power plants in Finland and Sweden aren't economically viable without government support due to high costs and low electricity prices. Despite this, Fortum will continue developing nuclear as a long-term option to meet future power demands, which are expected to grow significantly by 2050. New nuclear projects could supply the region by the late 2030s if conditions improve.
