-European citizens want the EU to take bigger roles in security and unity, despite mixed views on the EU.

A recent Eurobarometer survey reveals that 66% of European citizens want the EU to play a bigger role in protecting them from global crises and security threats. Eighty-nine percent believe EU member states should be more united in tackling challenges, and 76% feel the EU needs more resources for future challenges. Defense and security are top priorities for the EU, alongside competitiveness and economy. Despite 74% of Europeans believing their country benefits from EU membership, only 50% have a positive view of the EU itself.
