flag 47 eggs and 12 chicks of double-crested cormorants were rescued from a damaged tree in Marina del Rey.

In Marina del Rey, California, 47 eggs and 12 chicks of double-crested cormorants were rescued from a wind-damaged eucalyptus tree at risk of collapsing. Tree contractors removed the nests, and biologists transported the eggs and chicks to the International Bird Rescue’s Los Angeles Wildlife Center for care. Staff there hope to release the birds back into the wild in a few months once they can fly and hunt on their own.
