Chicago Archdiocese sues residents for allegedly conspiring to file false sexual abuse claims against a defrocked priest.

The Archdiocese of Chicago has filed a lawsuit claiming a group of West Side residents, including a convicted murderer and gang members, conspired to file false sexual abuse claims against defrocked priest Daniel McCormack to gain large legal settlements. The lawsuit seeks to counter several ongoing cases and requests penalties and a ban on further false claims. McCormack, who admitted to abusing minors and served prison time, is not targeted by these false claims.
