British cyclist Matthew Brennan won the first stage of the Tour of Catalonia in heavy rain.

In heavy rain, 19-year-old British cyclist Matthew Brennan from Team Visma won the first stage of the Tour of Catalonia, covering 178.3 kilometers in Sant Feliu de Guixols. He finished ahead of Tibor del Grosso and Kaden Groves. With Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard absent, Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso are favored for the overall victory. Stage two will be 177.3 kilometers from Banyoles to Figueres.
