Delhi BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi has asked meat shops near temples to close on Tuesdays and during the Navratri festival, a request the shopkeepers have agreed to. Negi plans to write to the District Magistrate to ensure this continues. He cited similar efforts in other states to close meat and liquor shops near religious sites. Navratri, a Hindu festival, starts March 30 and ends April 6.
