Bill Chisholm, a private equity executive and Massachusetts native, has agreed to buy the Boston Celtics for a record $6.1 billion. The deal, pending NBA approval, surpasses the previous record set for the NFL's Washington Commanders. Chisholm's group includes Boston businessmen Rob Hale and Bruce Beal Jr. Current owner Wyc Grousbeck will stay on as CEO for three more years. The transaction, if completed, will be the highest price ever for a U.S. sports team.
