China has introduced a mobile rubber-tapping robot to tackle labor shortages in its rubber industry.
Developed by CATAS and Automotive Walking Technology, the AI-driven robot can harvest 100 to 120 trees per hour and is set for trials in Hainan Province.
With mass production, the robot will cost under 100,000 yuan (US$13,820), and its investment will be recouped within 18 months for a 50-mu (3.33 hectares) plantation.
