Ireland reports highest norovirus cases this year, urging public to stay home and wash hands frequently.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre in Ireland warns of high norovirus levels, also known as the winter vomiting bug, with 100 cases reported in the week ending March 16, the highest total this year.
Norovirus is highly infectious, spreading through close contact and causing vomiting and diarrhea.
While typically mild, those affected are advised to stay home for 48 hours after symptoms subside and to avoid emergency departments, contacting a GP or pharmacist by phone instead.
Frequent handwashing with soap is recommended to prevent spread.
