West Virginia couple faces up to 215 years for abusing five adopted children.
A West Virginia couple, Jeanne Kay Whitefeather and Donald Lantz, convicted of abusing and mistreating their five adopted Black children, are set for sentencing.
Found guilty on charges including forced labor, human trafficking, child abuse, and civil rights violations, Whitefeather faces up to 215 years in prison, and Lantz faces up to 160 years.
The children, aged 5 to 16, were subjected to poor living conditions, physical and emotional abuse, and were at times locked in a shed.
The eldest daughter has also filed a lawsuit for the abuse.
