The USDA has launched the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP), offering up to $10 billion in assistance to farmers struggling with increased costs and falling commodity prices for the 2024 crop year.
The program, part of the American Relief Act of 2025, will send pre-filled applications to producers based on 2024 acreage reports starting March 19.
Eligible crops include wheat, corn, sorghum, barley, oats, soybeans, and others.
Payments, based on reported acres, will start at 85% of the total with a supplemental payment planned for summer.
