The Indian government has approved a $1.44 billion project to build a new urea fertilizer plant in Assam, aiming to boost domestic urea production, especially in the northeast.
The plant, with an annual capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes, will be constructed at the existing Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited site in Namrup.
This project, expected to take 48 months, will enhance self-reliance in fertilizer production and create numerous employment opportunities.
