Group Captain John "Paddy" Hemingway, the last surviving pilot from the Battle of Britain, has died at 105.
Born in Dublin in 1919, Hemingway joined the RAF in 1938 and fought in the Battle of France before becoming part of "The Few," a term coined by Winston Churchill.
Hemingway was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1941 and served in D-Day operations and the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces.
His death marks the end of an era as he was the last known surviving Battle of Britain pilot.
