John Lewis Partnership reports tripling profits but skips employee bonus, investing in improvements instead.
John Lewis Partnership, which owns John Lewis and Waitrose, reported a tripling of annual profits to £126 million but decided against giving its 69,000 employees a bonus for the third year in a row.
Instead, the company plans to invest £600 million in business improvements and increase overall pay by £114 million.
Chairman Jason Tarry said he is determined to reintroduce the bonus "as soon as possible."
