Study shows perovskite LEDs could be cheaper, greener alternative to traditional LEDs.

Researchers at Linköping University found that perovskite LEDs are cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional LEDs, capable of producing vibrant colors. The study in Nature Sustainability shows that replacing gold with cheaper metals could reduce environmental impact. For commercial success, perovskite LEDs need to reach around 10,000 hours of life expectancy, which researchers believe is achievable with ongoing improvements.
