Former PRASA CEO and businessman plead not guilty to fraudulently selling a 42km railway line.
Mthuthuzeli Swartz, former acting CEO of PRASA, and businessman Nadir Mohiudeen pleaded not guilty to fraudulently selling 42km of railway line in the Eastern Cape.
The trial, delayed for six years, started in the Gqeberha Regional Court.
Swartz is accused of providing fraudulent cover for the removal of the rail, sold for scrap by Mohiudeen's company, Spanish Ice.
The cost to reinstate the rail line is estimated at 59 million rand.
