India exempts rice exports to most EU countries to boost competitiveness, exempting UK and others.
India has temporarily exempted the need for a certificate of inspection for the export of rice to most European countries, except the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
This six-month exemption by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) aims to boost Indian rice exporters' competitiveness abroad.
The move follows the easing of previous restrictions on rice exports, which were imposed to manage domestic inflation and food security.
