Singapore is overhauling its work permit policies, starting July 1, 2025, to give employers more flexibility.
Work permit holders will no longer have a maximum employment period, and the maximum employment age will rise to 63 from 60, with a new work permit application age limit of 61.
Starting June 1, employers can hire from Bhutan, Cambodia, and Laos, and from September, they can hire heavy vehicle drivers, manufacturing operators, and cooks under the Non-Traditional Sources list.
These changes aim to help businesses retain experienced workers and build a more skilled workforce.
