Kenya denies one-off payments to former councilors, plans social inclusion instead.

Kenya's Treasury Cabinet Secretary, John Mbadi, has ruled out paying former councilors a one-off honorarium of Sh200,000 due to lack of legal backing, as advised by the Attorney General. Instead, the government plans to include eligible former councilors in the Inua Jamii social protection program. A forensic audit will also be conducted to clarify the issue of gratuity payments.
