Delhi removes 1,300 tons of garbage from Yamuna River, aiming to clean further and develop riverfront.
Delhi's Irrigation and Flood Control Minister, Parvesh Verma, announced that 1,300 metric tons of garbage have been removed from the Yamuna River in the past 10 days, fulfilling a BJP promise made during recent elections.
The government plans to clean the river further by installing sewage treatment plants for all 18 major drains and aims to launch a ferry service and develop a cultural hub along the riverfront.
Verma also criticized the previous government for not doing substantial work to clean the river.
