Two Guatemalan men, Eduardo Domingo Renoj-Matul and Cristobal Mejia-Chaj, have been arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly leading a human smuggling operation that brought about 20,000 migrants into the U.S. since 2019.
The operation charged migrants between $15,000 and $18,000 for passage.
The suspects, who are in the U.S. illegally, pleaded not guilty and are being held without bond until their April trial.
