Survivors of the Île-à-la-Crosse Boarding School reach a $37 million settlement with Canada.
Survivors of the Île-à-la-Crosse Boarding School in Saskatchewan have reached an agreement in principle with the Canadian government for a $27 million settlement and a $10 million fund for healing and cultural projects.
The school, which operated for over 100 years, housed Métis and First Nations children who faced abuse.
While this marks a step towards justice, claims of physical or sexual abuse are not included in the agreement.
