Maureen Bone, 12, wins county spelling bee with "octonocular," heading to national competition in May.
Maureen Bone, a 12-year-old from Beaver Local, won the Columbiana County Spelling Bee by correctly spelling "octonocular."
She will represent the county at the 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on May 27-29.
Bone will receive subscriptions to Merriam-Webster Unabridged Online and Britannica Online Premium, the Samuel Louis Sugarman Award, and a trip to the national bee with her parent.
