India's 8th Pay Commission to decide on salary hikes for 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners by April.
The 8th Pay Commission in India is set to decide on a "fitment factor" that could significantly increase salaries and pensions for around 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
The National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) is requesting a fitment factor of at least 2.57, which would raise the minimum salary from ₹18,000 to ₹46,260 and the minimum pension from ₹9,000 to ₹23,130.
However, the government may opt for a lower factor due to financial constraints.
The Commission's decision is expected by April 2025.
