Elderly consultant sentenced for siphoning $900K from failing companies to fund gambling.
Wesley Grainger-Smith, a 66-year-old construction consultant, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for fraudulently transferring over £700,000 from four failing construction companies into his casino account between 2014 and 2017.
Despite not being an official director, Grainger-Smith had significant influence over the companies.
The Insolvency Service found around £570,000 returned to the companies, which Grainger-Smith claimed were gambling winnings, though he was never entitled to gamble with company funds.
