In his first Grapefruit League appearance of 2025, 22-year-old Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes showcased his new cutter and running two-seam fastball, striking out four and allowing four hits, one walk, and one run in three innings. The Pirates won 5-2 against the Baltimore Orioles. Skenes, who won NL Rookie of the Year in 2024 with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts, aims to refine his pitch variety this season.
