The Wisconsin DNR opens elk hunt applications from March 1 to May 31 for the 2025 season. Both antlered and antlerless elk can be hunted in the Black River Elk Range, with a quota of four antlered and five antlerless elk. The Clam Lake Elk Range has a quota of eight antlered elk, with half reserved for Ojibwe hunters. Only Wisconsin residents can apply, and each person can apply once in their lifetime. The application fee is $10, and winners must take a hunter education course and pay $49 for a hunting license.
