Elderly woman loses over $500,000 in gold coins to scammer impersonating a federal agent.

A Clark County woman in her 70s lost over $500,000 in gold coins to a scammer impersonating a federal agent. The scammer, posing as a representative of the Federal Office of Inspector General, convinced the victim of fraudulent activity involving her Social Security number and persuaded her to transfer her assets, eventually leading to the purchase and delivery of gold coins. The Clark County Sheriff's Office warns against paying in gold, gift cards, or cryptocurrency to anyone claiming to be a government agent and advises verifying suspicious calls directly with the agency.
