California startup Copper introduces affordable, efficient electric stoves as healthier, greener alternative to gas stoves.

California startup Copper has developed an electric stove and oven that can be plugged into a standard wall outlet, offering health and environmental benefits over gas stoves. The 120-volt, four-burner electric induction stove does not require costly rewiring and is up to 90% efficient, compared to gas stoves which release pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and benzene. Though expensive, the stoves can be offset by government incentives; the New York City Housing Authority plans to purchase 10,000 units for $3,200 each, due in 2026.
