India's SEBI introduces Specialized Investment Funds for high-net-worth investors starting April 1.
India's market regulator, SEBI, has introduced Specialized Investment Funds (SIFs) starting April 1, aimed at wealthier investors with a minimum investment of ₹10 lakh.
To launch SIFs, fund houses must have at least three years of operational experience with an average asset under management (AUM) of ₹10,000 crore or more.
SIFs can offer equity, debt, and hybrid investment strategies, with the option to use derivatives up to 25% of their net assets.
Close-ended SIFs must be listed on stock exchanges.
This move aims to bridge the gap between mutual funds and portfolio management services by offering more flexible investment options.
