Study reveals 74,000 pregnant women lose jobs annually, up from 54,000 a decade ago.
A recent study by Pregnant Then Screwed and Women In Data found that around 74,000 women lose their jobs annually due to pregnancy or taking maternity leave, an increase from 54,000 a decade ago.
The survey of 35,800 parents revealed that 12% of women were dismissed or made redundant during pregnancy, maternity leave, or within a year of returning.
Half of these women reported negative work experiences, and one in five quit their jobs as a result.
Campaign groups are calling for increased paternity leave, family-friendly workplaces, and better tracking of maternity retention.
