Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of "Hamilton," has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, joining 21 new inductees into the 127-year-old honor society.
The academy, which has a core membership of 300, recognizes excellence in literature, music, art, and architecture.
Honorary members include Meryl Streep and Martin Scorsese.
Miranda will be formally welcomed at a May ceremony in Upper Manhattan.
