Canadian government appoints Aluki Kotierk to review Nutrition North, a subsidy program for northern groceries.
The Canadian government has appointed Aluki Kotierk, a former president of Nunavut Tunngavik, to lead an external review of the Nutrition North program, which subsidizes grocery costs in 124 northern communities.
Kotierk will assess the program's effectiveness and produce a report next year.
The government also announced a $20 million investment into the program, amid accusations that some retailers have not fully applied the subsidy to groceries.
