India's CBSE allows existing schools to open branch schools for early education starting 2026-27.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has approved new rules allowing existing affiliated schools to open branch schools for early childhood and primary education, from Bal Vatika to Class 5, starting from the academic year 2026-27.
These branches will operate independently but under the same affiliation, with separate principals and staff.
Applications can be made through the SARAS portal.
Each branch must meet specific infrastructure and staffing requirements, including a wellness room and play area, and will ensure a smooth transition for students moving to the main school.
