Credit card spending in India surged 10.8% year-on-year in January 2025, reaching Rs 1.84 trillion. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank saw significant growth of 15.91% and 20.25% respectively, while SBI and Axis Bank experienced declines. The number of credit cards has more than doubled in the last five years, with digital payments, particularly through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), showing strong growth.
