Nigerian court orders forfeiture of $4.7M and properties linked to ex-Central Bank Governor Emefiele.
A Nigerian Federal High Court has ordered the final forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and multiple properties linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed the application, alleging the assets were proceeds of unlawful activities.
The funds were held in various accounts and linked to entities associated with Emefiele and his close relative, Anita Joy Omoile.
The properties include buildings and land in Lagos and Lekki.
The assets will now be forfeited to the Nigerian government.
