Pratt & Whitney wins $1.5 billion contract to upgrade F-22 fighter jet engines.
Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, has won a $1.5 billion, three-year contract to maintain and improve the F119 engines for the U.S. Air Force's F-22 fighter jets.
The contract aims to enhance engine performance, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the life of over 400 engines that have flown more than 900,000 hours.
Pratt & Whitney also plans to incorporate 3D printed parts into the engines to potentially reduce costs further.
