Missouri House passes bill cutting injury claim time to 2 years, extending sexual abuse filing age to 41.
The Missouri House has passed a bill reducing the statute of limitations for personal injury claims to two years, down from five.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Matthew Overcast, also includes an amendment extending the statute of limitations for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, allowing them to file civil action until age 41 instead of 31.
The bill passed 92-42 and now moves to the Senate for further review.
Supporters argue the changes will encourage quicker claim resolutions and lower insurance costs, while critics worry it could hinder access to justice for injured individuals.
