Survey reveals Irish adults are increasingly reliant on phones, checking them excessively and encountering fake news.
According to a Deloitte survey of 1,000 people in Ireland, 70% of adults feel they spend too much time on their phones.
Key findings include 43% using their devices during meals, 74% checking them immediately upon waking, and 54% having delayed bedtimes due to their phones.
Additionally, 34% check their phones at least 50 times a day, with 15% doing so over 100 times.
The survey also found that 71% encountered misleading online information, and 53% came across fake news, up from 46% in 2023.
Despite this, television remains the most popular news source in Ireland, with 57% preferring it.
