Tripura reports a significant rise in groundwater, setting ambitious irrigation goals for 2024.
Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced at the 2nd All India State Water Ministers Conference that the state's groundwater resources increased to 1.18 billion cubic meters in 2024 from 1.063 billion cubic meters in 2023.
Saha also set a target of achieving 80% irrigation coverage for cultivable land through various water conservation projects, including rainwater harvesting and the construction of minor dams.
The state aims to develop 98 minor irrigation projects and has already started work on 14 of them.
