Japan's core machinery orders grew in 2024 but are forecast to drop slightly in early 2025.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Japan's core machinery orders rose by 2.9% from the previous quarter and 6.6% from the year before, totaling 2.658 trillion yen.
Despite this growth, core machinery orders dropped by 1.2% in December, missing forecasts.
For the first quarter of 2025, orders are projected to decline by 2.3% from the previous quarter but increase by 0.4% from the year before, reaching 2.598 trillion yen.
