Irish Health Minister concerned over doubling of hospital trolley waits post-bank holiday.
Irish Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill is concerned about a significant rise in trolley waits in hospitals following the St. Brigid's Day bank holiday, from 253 patients on Saturday to over 617 on Tuesday.
She criticized the low number of hospital consultants on duty and asked the HSE to investigate consultant rosters and ways to maximize public consultant contracts.
Trolley numbers in January were also 15% higher compared to the same month in 2024.
