Harare Mayor fined for lying about a property under oath, but sentence suspended.

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume was fined $300 for lying under oath during a governance inquiry, claiming a property as his residence when it was actually a vehicle auction site. Justice Maphios Cheda led the inquiry and suspended the fine and a three-month prison sentence for five years, contingent on Mafume not violating the Commission's Inquiry Act during this period. Mafume apologized for his misleading testimony.
