Supreme Court orders Delhi and central governments to appeal in 1984 anti-Sikh riots acquittals.
The Supreme Court of India has ordered the Delhi and central governments to file appeals within six weeks in six cases where individuals accused of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were acquitted.
The Delhi Police have already filed appeals in two cases and plan to do so in the remaining six.
The order follows recommendations by a committee that found investigations had been compromised.
The riots, which occurred after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, led to the deaths of nearly 3,000 people.
