He joined Ferrero in 1952 and was key in developing Nutella, a global favorite hazelnut spread, while working closely with company founder Michele Ferrero.
Rivella, a chemist, worked at Ferrero for over four decades and later pursued fruit farming and traditional games.
His funeral is set for February 17 in Alba, and he will be buried in Barbaresco.
