Saab upgrades Swedish Navy's HMS Halland submarine for $116M, extending its service until 2035.

Saab has completed a $116 million mid-life upgrade on the Swedish Navy's HMS Halland, the last of its Gotland-class submarines. The upgrade, which included over 20 new systems and technologies similar to those for the future Blekinge-class submarines, ensures HMS Halland can perform advanced maritime missions for years. The Gotland-class submarines, known for being the first to use a Stirling Air Independent Propulsion system, are expected to remain in service until at least 2035.
